Access to
the Iguassu Falls region
The region is served by three airports and bus stations: Foz do
Iguaçu (Brazil), Puerto Iguazu (Argentina), and Ciudad del Este
(Paraguay). Arrival in Brazil or Argentina is recommended,
depending on your convenience.

Arriving by
air

(Brazil) to the Mabu Thermas and Resort:

the Mabu Hotel and arrive at Foz do Iguaçu airport
(Brazil) will have free transportation to the Mabu

giving your name, the details of your flight schedule
(air company, flight number and date and time of
arrival) and the number of people.
Upon arrival look for a PROSCIBA sign

By taxi: US$ 25
By bus: There are regular van services from the airport
to the bus station of Puerto Iguazú (Argentina), the ticket
costs: U$S 2.50. Once you are in the bus station, take the
international bus to Foz do Iguaçu (Brazil):
“Crucero
del Norte” Cost US$ 0.70 per person. It runs from 7am till 8
pm
”Tres Frontera” Cost US$ 1.00 per person. It runs from 7 am
fill 6 pm
“Línea Itaipu” Cost US$ 1.00 per person. It runs from 7 am till
6 pm.
There is a
bus service every 30 min. Non Brazilians passengers have to get off at the
migration office; please keep the ticket with you because after
migration you will have to take the next bus. Tell the driver
you are going to the Mabu Thermas and Resort because the Hotel
stop is before the center of Foz do Iguaçu.
By Van:
There are many Van Services that should be contacted in advance.
One of them is: Caracol Turismo Internacional that can be
contacted by e-mail to
reservas@caracolturismo.com.ar.
You should indicate: Name and Surname, amount of people, date
and Fly Number. Upon arrival, you should look for a sign whit
the name of the conference.
Cost US$ 5.00 per person.
Arriving by bus:
From Foz do Iguaçu bus station (Brazil) to the Mabu Thermas and
Resort:
You need to take two buses: the first one goes to the "Terminal
de Ônibus" (Local Bus Terminal), from there, you need to take a
second bus to "Parque Nacional". Please, tell the driver you are
going to the Mabu Thermas and Resort because because the hotel
is located before the National Park. Cost R$ 2.00
From the Puerto Iguazu bus station (Argentina) to the Mabu
Thermas and Resort:
You need to take the internacional bus to Foz do Iguaçu
(Brazil),

transportation in Foz do Iguaçu is either by bus or taxi.

Medical assistance and
insurance
Participants are advised to make
their own arrangements regarding travel insurance and medical
assistance during the Conference, as health care in Brazil may
be expensive. The Organizing Committee is not able to accept
any responsibility for damage or injury to persons or their
belongings during the Conference.
Visas
Citizens of some countries
require visas for entry into Brazil and Argentina. The local Brazilian
and Argentinean Embassy
or Consulate will inform you if a visa is necessary. If needed,
the Technical Secretariat can provide invitation letters. Please,
keep in mind that the Conference will be held in Brazil and the
excursion is a visit to the falls within Argentinean territory.
Electricity
The electrical current in Foz do
Iguaçu is 110 volts. At the Mabu Thermas and Resort, 220 V
connection is also available at the apartment bathrooms.
Conference dinner
All dinners, including
Conference Dinner, will be informal
Currency exchange
The exchange rates, in the
Bureau of Change, is around R$ 2.15 per
dollar (March 1st, 2007). Exchange rates may vary.
Shopping & tipping
The opening hours of the shops
are from 9 AM to 6 PM.
Major credit cards are widely
accepted. Tipping in restaurants is usually 10% and often
included in the bill. Tipping in taxis is not mandatory, but it
is usual to round off the amount to avoid the use of coins.
Tipping in hotels is not mandatory either, but tipping for good
services is appreciated.
